206 (TU) Gripper Differential (MA Gearbox)


Product Information

Gripper plated limited slip differential to suit all MA gearboxes found in models of the Peugeot 206 with a TU engine. (Please note this differential is not suitable for GTI models). This diff is a press fit (no modification required) and is suitable for use with the original crown wheel. This diff cannot be used with Gripper crown wheel and pinion sets but is compatible with our other crown wheel sets available on our website.  


Plated differentials are designed for motorsport applications to increase grip between the 2 wheels of the driven axle. Grip is milder without excessive torque delivery or lift-off due to preload across the viscous clutch plates and more aggressive under acceleration and lift-off caused by extra friction delivered as the central planetary cross-pins ride up the chosen ramp angles, applying increased clamp load to the clutch plates.


Plated diffs will increase steering stiffness slightly and cause some driveshaft noise under locking, plate wear over time also means that they will need refreshing with new plates from time to time as the preload drops. We therefore never recommend a plated diff for road use, however they can be if the pros and cons are understood. Different gear oils are recommended for plated diffs when used with synchromesh type gears and dog gears, both of which have friction modifiers added and are different to standard lubricants.


This differential is available with several options of setup: 


  • A - 40/65 Ramp angles with a 120NM Pre-Load - Recommended for tarmac racing
  • B - 40/65 Ramp angles with a 60NM Pre-Load - Recommended for road/trackday use
  • C - 30/60 Ramp angles with a 120NM Pre-Load - Recommended for gravel racing
  • D - 30/60 Ramp angles with a 60NM Pre-Load - Recommended for gravel racing
  • E - 45/45 Ramp angles with a 120NM Pre-Load - ZF Race Spec 
  • F - 45/45 Ramp angles with a 60NM Pre-Load - ZF Road Spec 
  • G - 50/80 Ramp angles with a 120NM Pre-Load - Soft Locking /lightweight
  • H - 50/80 Ramp angles with a 60NM Pre-Load - Soft Locking /lightweight
  • J - 30/80 Ramp angles with a 120NM Pre-Load - Race use (open on over-run)
  • K - 30/80 Ramp angles with a 60NM Pre-Load - Road use (less plates)


Custom setting are available upon request but please contact us for more information regarding this. 


Plate wear will depend on the setup you choose, rebuilds can be arranged through PUG1OFF. We recommend the use of a good synthetic gear oil compatible with both LSD and synchromesh gears.
